Stumbling into Fashion

May 10th marks the opening for yet another great fashion exhibition. This time it's the Met Museum's 'Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations'. It puts together 2 legendary designers in conversation, discussing their views on fashion and life, alongside pieces from their collections. Schiaparelli is played by Judy Davis, with words taken from the writings of Schiaparelli herself.

A Classic Revisited

I keep getting so excited about things that are happening lately! And this definitely made me wish I could just fly to NYC whenever I felt like it. On Wednesday night, the exhibition tour of the photos from the upcoming book 'The Little Black Jacket' had its opening night in New York.

3 is Definitely a Charm

So happy and excited to announce one of the biggest things I have probably posted about. The incredible mind behind Comme Des Garcons is opening a Dover Street Market in New York City. So far only two of this spectacle of a boutique-department store exist, in London and Tokyo. This hop over to the big apple will no doubt be greatly awaited by everyone with even a minuscule of interest in the fashion world. A specific location within the city has yet to be chosen but it is said that Rai Kawabuko wants the store to be placed in a spot not yet associated with fashion, as to help transform the area with its presence. Which it will certainly do! Really can't wait for its opening. Might try to make the trip over there when it does, just to take a look after it opens.

Take a look at the New York Times article about the new store.

Connecting the LV Dots

From all the collaborations out there, the most intriguing has to be when a fashion designer teams up with an artist. We have seen this many times in the past from Zac Posen and Rosson Crow, to Paul Smith and Craigie Aitchison, and many others. This time Louis Vuitton has paired up with Yayoi Kusama for a limited edition collection scheduled to hit June 11. LV has previously collaborated with Stephen Sprouse and Takashi Murakami which both made everyone gone nuts so we can probably assume the same for this one. With Kusama's love (or maybe a bit of obsession) towards dots, we can see her artist flair pouring out of this one.

In New Hands a New Look

Ever since the two creatives behind Opening Ceremony took over at Kenzo, it seems they are spreading to reach a new audience. With a new vibe for the season, I am definitely intrigued by all the new things they are doing. I knew they had been collaborating with Vans to put together a sneaker line, but it looks like they are now on to snap back caps with New Era, and boy is it looking great. I would love to get my hands on the white cap and a pair of the green vans. Hopefully this new look and feel to the brand isn't too far from what people know Kenzo to be though. So tell me what you guys think.
